How have your past students
utilised their experience with GLA
to benefit their own progression?
Can you share some of GLAs recent
success stories and achievements?
Here are just some of the participants from the GLA
programs since 2014 that have offered their gratitude
and success stories:
Kim English (Canada) graduated from several different
Global Leadership Academies in the summers of
2015-2018. As a result of her various DREAM Service
Projects related to dance and better social connection,
which she designed with us and completed on her
own, the University of British Columbia awarded her
a special full $50,000 CAD scholarship for her
leadership in service.
Former youth participant Allison Yamamoto (USA),
who was accepted into the Ivy League School
Columbia University and currently working at LinkedIn
said this about her Powerful Youth GLA experience:
“I wouldn’t be as self-aware as I am now if it weren’t for
my experience with Powerful Youth… we were able to
be human and we had our fair share of victories and
failures, but we always learned from each experience
and became better because of it. Our reflection
exercises helped me understand what I valued most
in our world. Plus, our creative activities empowered
me to think outside of the box. These are the
skills that I needed to innovate a fulfilling career path
for myself.”
